![]() Two-By-Four 1: The View The view side of Two-By-Four features almost clear 20 foot glazed wall over looking the protected forest lands to the south. most of the containers are oriented in this direction to take full advantage of the view and natural light. The ground floor containers all have their steel doors intact so the owner can lock down the building when it is vacant. top ![]() Two-By-Four 2: The Entrance The main entrance is sheltered from the rainforest conditions by a balcony off the second floor loft. This side of Two-By-Four faces east and houses the main floor den and upper floor guest room. top ![]() Two-By-Four 3: West Face The west face of Two-By-Four contains the main floor kitchen and upper floor master suite. This side also houses the mechanical room accessed from the exterior only. The concept includes rainwater recycling cisterns, septic field pumps and emergency electrical generation systems. top ![]() Two-By-Four 4: The Roof-Top Deck The roof top deck is easily accessible from the stairwell. The view from this south-west roof-top deck is of a panoramic forest stepping down to ocean views in the distance. top ![]() Two-By-Four 5: Upper Floor The upper floor of Two-By-Four contains a guest room with a generous closet, a loft overlooking the main floor living room, and the master suite including a generous closet, 3 piece bathroom and a feature bathtub in the view. The bedrooms both have balconies overlooking the forest view. top ![]() Two-By-Four 6: Main Floor The main floor of Two-By-Four features the den with a generous storage closet, and a sliding wall that can extend the open concept of the living/dining/kitchen areas. A single container houses the foyer and stairwell keeping the main traffic flow out of the rest of the main floor spaces. Another 3 piece bathroom is stacked under the master bathroom. This makes for cost effective, efficient plumbing. The mechanical room is adjacent to these bathrooms making the whole mechanical system efficient. top ![]() Two-By-Four 7: Interior West This interior view shows another innovation in the container design concept. The corrugated container siding is not only visible outside Two-By-Four, but the 20' vaulted ceiling allows us to experience the corrugated shell of the container from the main living area. The stairway not only connects the main floor to the upper floor, but it also leads up another half flight to the balcony leading to the roof-top deck. top ![]() Two-By-Four 8: Interior East From the kitchen, looking east, the corrugation of the main floor den is being utilized to make a sliding wall providing more open floor area to the living room. The loft above allows for a free-flowing, convertible space with wonderful views and connection to the living area on the main floor. top ![]() Two-By-Four 9: Stairwell/Vault Detail A section through the stairwell of Two-By-Four shows how the roof top deck can be easily accessed and simply constructed. The 20' vaulted space seen here, is the portion of the building that is framed in a more traditional manor. This will allow for a broad light-filled central core where most of the living will be done. top |
