![]() FLW Container House - Unique Home Design: 1-Front I pursued this unique home design concept as proof to skeptics that the container concept has merit and potential to be graceful, esthetically pleasing design. I have adapted Frank Lloyd Wright's residential design style and created an exciting, unique house that fits a standard size lot in the Victoria area. This unique home design concept is constructed of two 40 foot and six 20 foot containers. top ![]() FLW Container House - Unique Home Design: 2-Entry On this side elevation the entrance door is visible. Container doors remain so the house can be closed up and secured when the occupants are away for extended periods of time. All the container doors that remain intact are functioning and can be opened to allow interior/exterior interaction. top ![]() FLW Container House - Unique Home Design: 3-Backyard The backyard provides peace and privacy for the relaxing patio, still pond and studio. The glazed wall into the living room allows the tranquil patio setting to be enjoyed while in the living space. The overhang connecting the studio to the house provides summer shade and shelter from rain. top ![]() FLW Container House - Unique Home Design: 4-Kitchen Side The container aesthetic is most striking in this side of the house. The kitchen has a glazed wall providing a dramatic backdrop that allows what is traditionally a buried room to be a feature of the modern floor plan (a lot of fun at dinner parties). top ![]() FLW Container House - Unique Home Design: 5-Bedroom Views The bedrooms have sliding glass windows overlooking the front yard and the container doors can be opened or locked shut. top ![]() FLW Container House - Unique Home Design: 6-Living Space The term open floor plan means the ability to move freely between the interior spaces and to relate freely from the interior to the exterior. The staircase provides a sculptural element and it's central location allows for easy access to the upper floor. The circular windows provide interest on the front wall while the kitchen window provides an elegant backdrop to this open plan. The main bathroom is located in the back corner of the main floor, behind the kitchen. Beyond the dining area the foyer leads to the bedroom hall. top ![]() FLW Container House - Unique Home Design: 7-Main Floor Plan The main floor contains open living/dining/kitchen spaces, the main bathroom/laundry and 2 bedrooms. The studio and mechanical rooms are contained in an accessory building (shipping container) joined by a patio and water feature. top ![]() FLW Container House - Unique Home Design: 8-Upper Floor Plan The upper floor contains the master bedroom suite (bedroom/closet/ensuite) and an office (or den). A large balcony off the bedroom can be reached through the container doors on the front of the building. top ![]() FLW Container House - Unique Home Design: 9-Master Bathroom Detail The ensuite is accessed from the Master Bedroom through the closet. It's a simple layout that features a soaker tub that can open to the backyard. The container doors are altered to incorporate windows into the steel panels. top |
